David's Preparations (1 Chron 22-29)

March 3, 2024 at 7:00:00 PM

SCRIPTURE TEXT: 1 Chronicles 22-28; 29:1-22

One of King David’s greatest desires was to build a Temple of worship unto the Lord God of Israel. Yet the Lord Himself told him that the son of David would build the Temple. Most immediately, this meant David’s heir to the throne, Solomon, who did indeed build a grand Temple in Jerusalem during his reign. But it also prophetically referred to another descendant of David who is also David’s own Lord & Creator, Jesus the Christ, whose Temple of divine worship is composed of His Body, that is those whom He has saved into Himself, the Body of Christ which is the family of faith. Though David did not likely realize the long legacy of this promise from the Lord in all its Messianic implications, his deep commitment to God & the lifestyle of worship led him to prepare for his son Solomon all the provisions necessary for the faithful fulfillment of God’s call. In this we have a pattern of real worship, in which all of our focus & resources are dedicated to God’s purposes for our lives.
