The Problems of the Preacher

SCRIPTURE TEXTS: Ecclesiastes 1-12

The Holy Spirit weds divine wisdom and righteous worship in His very nature, and it was this holy union of divine attributes that characterized the best aspects of King Solomon as A PRINCE OF PEACE ruling over his people. But as Solomon strayed from his strongest devotion to right worship & instead into an increasing dalliance with idolatry, the erosion of his worship effected also a corrosion of the blessing of his wisdom, as "the Preacher" of proverbs came to feel that "all is vanity & vapor." Yet even in this dissipation, the divine gift of wisdom was operating through Solomon, leaving us one of the more emotionally challenging & yet undeniably enriching experiences of Scripture: the book of Ecclesiastes.
