4th Sunday of Advent

SCRIPTURE TEXTS: Ge 3:14-15; Ps 91:1-16; Lk 4:9-13; Mt 4:5-7​

As we advance through the weeks of Advent, we’re studying together through the five stanzas of the beloved Christmas carol, HARK! THE HERALD ANGELS SING, a Wesleyan hymn rich in scriptural references & theological significance. In this fourth & final week of Advent, we'll examine how the hymn testifies testifies to biblical warnings and assurances. From the beginning, Satan has sought to tempt & try people. However, the greater assurance of Advent declares that our Savior Jesus triumphs & saves people, even as the first prophetic passage in the Bible proclaims in Genesis 3:14-15 describing The Serpent's Head & the Savior's Heel.
